“I love seeing how a device I made can directly benefit someone’s life”

About Melinda

Melinda Le, B.Sc.
Orthotic Technical Intern

When Melinda graduated with a degree in molecular biology and biotechnology, she wasn’t sure if it was the right field for her. She liked helping people and working with her hands, and wanted to find a profession that was both challenging and rewarding. Meeting with a career counsellor helped to expand her knowledge of possible career paths and she found she was a perfect fit for prosthetics and orthotics.

Melinda has been with Boundless since 2022 and is an integral part of the technical team. The relationship between Boundless clinicians and technicians is a dynamic one, and technicians are highly involved in making decisions about materials. They prepare and construct each device, including all the fittings such as straps and foot linings. It is truly a custom process, with technicians often consulting and checking with clinicians to see what they think of a device as it takes shape. You will often find Melinda and other technical team members participating in client appointments to understand first-hand the needs of the client. Melinda gets a lot of satisfaction in creating a device that meets her high standards of fabrication, making it look as sleek as possible, and directly seeing how it benefits someone’s life.

Melinda is a graduate of the Prosthetics & Orthotics Technician Program at George Brown College.  Prior to that she received a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology and biotechnology from the University of Toronto. She is exceptionally skilled at sewing and pattern making, and has expanded the technical expertise of our team to offer unique custom solutions for our clients.
