Children’s Boots
What to look for
Whether your child wears an AFO, SMO, or a KAFO, selecting the right winter boot is important to keep him or her moving comfortably and safely on snow or ice all winter long. The rules we use for buying brace friendly shoes don’t always apply to children’s winter boots which tend to have rubber toe boxes and don’t have removable insoles. In addition, because winter boots are usually tall getting a boot over an AFO can be very challenging without the right considerations.
Butler Brand
We like the Butler 3-in-1 boot because it can work for all seasons. Use the flexible outer boot with the liner for cold days. Slip off the liner to wear the boot with your AFO or a shoe. Even slip into the liner on its own for an indoor slipper.

Koolway Sports
These boots are made for wheelchair users. We like this custom-made overboot because of it’s long zipper in the back. The zippers on both the boot and the liner extend all the way down to the heel! Oh, and did we mention that they’re made in Canada?
However, they are not suitable for walking as there are no rubber souls on these overboots

Stride Rite
We like this boot because not only does it have adjustable straps at the ankle and calf, its two pull-straps make putting it on a little bit easier.

Stonz
We love these boots because they can fit some of our smallest patients, and come in sizes for newborn to toddler. In addition to having a wide opening, they have a non-slip sole and removable liner
